Budding Artists Gala  
Mark your calendar for Friday, May 7, 2027


WHAT
  • A fundraiser that features a live auction of original art by local high school art students
  • Provides a unique opportunity for young artists to showcase their talent
  • Supports them (they receive 50% of proceeds from the sale of their art piece)
  • Teaches them about philanthropy - the other half goes to this Kiwanis Club to give to area organizations that help children in the community
  • From 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. guests will view art, mingle, and enjoy a cash bar and dinner while listening to live music. 
  • The 2027 menu is TBD
  • At 7:00 p.m. the program begins with remarks from the emcee.
  • This is followed by a live auction when members of the community in attendance get to bid on the original artwork starting at $150 per piece.

WHO
  • Selected students from 10 area high schools (Auburn, Boylan Catholic, Christian Life, East, Guilford, Jefferson, Keith Country Day School, Rockford Christian, Rockford Lutheran and Roosevelt)
  • Auctioneers: Owner/operator of Irene Auction Service, Ken Freeman, along with Jeff Marrs will provide lively auctioneering services.
  • Kiwanis Supports Students and School Art Programs
    • High school senior students who are participating in the 2027 Budding Artists and plan to attend a university, college, or trade school beginning in Fall 2027 may apply for a Budding Artists education grant. Three $1,000 grants will be awarded. The application deadline is TBD in 2027.
    • Each school's art department receives $250 to use as needed.
